5 Day Hands-On Workshop for All Levels

Acrylics • Oils •  (Concepts apply to all opaque media)

MATERIALS LIST:

• PHOTO REFERENCES – Any subject; landscape emphasized. (appropriate to drawing ability)

• GRAPHITE PENCIL, ERASER

• CHARCOAL PENCILS: white and black

• TRACING PAPER – one 8x10 sheet

• MASKING TAPE

• CANVAS PAPER PAD (tablet of acrylic coated papers textured like canvas) to be cut to 5x7

• STRETCHED PRIMED CANVAS – 5 @ 16 x 20. Extra same or smaller sizes optional

• DISPOSABLE PALETTE PAD

• 2" utility brush (hardware store quality)

• 3 OIL BRUSHES – hog bristle, bright, sizes ½" -1". Holbein Killington preferred

• 3 ACRYLIC BRUSHES –synthetic mongoose, or hog bristle: bright. sizes ½" -1"

• SOLVENT –odorless turpentine substitute - Gamsol preferred (not needed for ACRYLICS)

• SOLVENT CLEAN-UP CONTAINER

• RAGS, PAPER TOWELS

• PORTABLE EASEL, optional

• COLOR GESSO (Holbein recommended-. Carmine, Orange,

others optional, i.e. Cerulean, Violet, Yellow, Green

• PAINT COLORS: For the best results, bring colors described below, regardless of medium:

White

Orange

2 Reds (different in terms of darker/lighter, warmer/cooler)

Violet

2 Blues (different in terms of darker/lighter, warmer/cooler)

2 Greens (different in terms of darker/lighter, warmer/cooler)

2 Yellows (different in terms of darker/lighter, warmer/cooler)
