Creative Sketchbook Workshop
Supply list
Please get a real ‘watercolor’ sketchbook. I like Handbook, Moleskine, Etcher or Hahnemuhle.
Just because it says ‘sketch’ book doesn’t mean it’s good. It needs to say for watercolor.
The A4 landscape is a good size for designing pages. I prefer landscape orientation but if you prefer portrait, that’s ok.
Whatever watercolor paints you like to use, or have, will be fine. Even a Winsor & Newton travel kit would work. However, professional paint will make your sketches come alive with brilliant, beautiful colors. Student grade paint does not.
I like Da Vinci, Holbein, or Daniel Smith watercolor paints. These are the colors I like to use,
Ultramarine Blue
Horizon Blue (Holbein)
Manganese Blue
Bright Red
Cad Orange
Yellow
Sap Green
Alizarin Red
Permanent Rose
Quinacridone Burnt Orange (Daniel Smith)
Yellow Ochre
Titanium White Gouache (preferably not M Graham)
Other supplies:
Brushes, pencils, fine point waterproof pen, paper towels, water container, masking tape, ruler, stool or lawn chair for painting outside.
