We are so pleased this year to welcome Albuquerque abstract artist and educator Allison Jones Hunt to Cloudcroft Art Workshops! She is known for her emotional, bold, and vibrant abstract art that can light up a room.
This 4-day workshop is designed for artists seeking to develop a more expressive and authentic voice in their abstract work. Join Allison for a deep dive into the principles of intuitive abstract painting, focusing on the strategic construction of personal color palettes and dynamic compositions. Moving beyond prescriptive formulas and throwing away the “rules”, this workshop provides a framework for playful discovery to foster a creative practice that resonates with your unique artistic vision.
Participants will engage in a series of exercises designed to strengthen their intuitive decision-making, explore color mixing beyond the color wheel, and expand their visual language. Through rigorous experimentation in a supportive and focused studio environment, you will learn to harness the power of color to create mood, build complex layers with acrylic and mixed-media, and leave with several finished works. This class is ideal for any painter looking to break through creative plateaus and infuse their work with greater personal expression and confidence.

About the Instructor: Allison Jones Hunt is an Albuquerque-based abstract artist who uses bold color, intuitive form, and intricate layers to create passionate, expressive paintings. A graduate of Reed College, she was recognized as one of New Mexico’s Emerging Artists by the Harwood Art Center, and her work has been exhibited throughout the Southwest and Pacific Northwest. As an educator, Allison is dedicated to fostering inclusive and accessible environments where students of all levels feel empowered to explore their creativity. She believes that everyone has a unique visual story to tell and is passionate about helping artists connect with their intuition to create more personal and expressive work.
