Join us as we welcome David to our mountain top village. He brings a fresh, new style for the students of Cloudcroft Art Workshops. He is a nationally and internationally recognized artist and instructor.

His paintings demonstrate a broad brush, presenting representational abstract with total harmony.

David will spend time discussing, as well as demonstrating, basic proportions and how to recognize the planes of your subject and interpret the human figure and portrait as a series of basic shapes and planes described by light and shadow.

David will cover foundational concepts such as value, color, paint application and basic proportions of the head and figure. In addition, students will learn some of the psychological aspects of learning to paint, such as giving ourselves permission to experiment and make mistakes so that we can learn and discover ways to become better, more creative artists. You will also learn about brushes, paints, mediums, solvents and paints.

David was born in New Jersey and studied art in New York City in his teenage years. During high school, he attended the Arts Student League in NYC, and is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. He is now featured in numerous art journals and has won numerous awards. You may reference these and his full biography on his website. He began his teaching career with much applause in 2008 with a YouTube video then launched a successful journey into instruction of his techniques.
