We welcome Linda Caperton who specializes in changing yarns and fabric into designs representative of the New Mexico Landscapes. Linda will bring all supplies necessary for this course.
On Day 1 she will give an introduction to Nuno felting; process and supply list. She will discuss laying out the pre-dyed silk and merino wool, going over the process of what Nuno felting is and how it works. She will give a demo, have students start by gathering supplies, and materials. Answer questions, give handouts on the felting process and supply list. She will give each student guidance and help. Each student will have a finished scarf with care instructions.

On day 2 she’s review day 1 and discuss making a more advance piece such as a poncho or cape or do another scarf or infinity scarf. Examples will be available. A demo will be shown and students will begin and finish another Nuno felted piece. Care information will be discussed as well as questions and answers. Handouts on the felting process will be available. Each student will leave with several Nuno felted pieces, supplies, information on the felting technique.

Her studio is an old saloon located across the street from where Billy the Kid was jailed and shot sheriff Brady. Along with a springer spaniel and three naughty tuxedo cats. “I Nuno felt scarves and garments which consist of combining my own dyed silk chiffon and adding merino wool. I work the fibers together to make a solid, seamless piece of clothing or scarf.”

I started my art journey with a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education from Radford University, Radford VA. My work has included floral design, interior design or anything to do with being creative. Watercolor has been my passion for more than 30 years, painting southwest landscapes and churches.
Fiber art includes dying my own silk, Nuno felting and eco botanical printing, which involves taking real leaves/flowers and printing them onto fabric/garments. This work has kept me busy for the past 20+ years.

My work is shown in Handwoven originals in Santa Fe and Artemisia in Taos, New Mexico. My gallery is in Lincoln NM.

Linda is inspired by design and color to make women look and feel beautiful. The southwest gives me light and inspiration to be creative with my work. My philosophy is “just do it!” And have fun!

She will bring all the materials needed for you to learn how to create your own.
